ARL is a limited company which has been trading since 1992.

ARL's Managing Director is Sean Sinclair. Sean originally came from a client side marketing background, initially with Unilever. He started his pharma marketing career on some brands that ended up with GlaxoSmithKline. He then ended up with Wyeth, before starting out as a marketing consultant and researcher in 1992.

Sean's client-side marketing perspective means he doesn't just offer findings, he offers action points. He focuses on how the client can use the findings to ethically increase revenue and profitability. He'll spot opportunities which clients can act on.

Having said that ARL is not one-dimensional. Sean teams up with at least one other researcher on most projects. Generally this research partner will be someone from a pure research background.

The two researchers play complementary roles. The pure researcher focuses on ensuring the process is rigorous and steers it towards new insights and discoveries. Then Sean builds on those insights with his action-oriented, marketing perspective.

Occasionally, Sean and his research partners will disagree on how to interpret data. After all, we come from different perspectives.

But disagreement is good! It increase the chance of spotting unwarranted assumptions, or alternative interpretations of data, or alternative lines of enquiry. This means we're more likely to discover new, actionable insights. For example, during fieldwork, our complementary perspectives mean we can generate new hypotheses to test, if the research design allows it.

And then, during the analysis of findings, our differences of interpretation will force us to defend our interpretations with more care. This imposes greater rigour before we select the best interpretation. So clients get a tested interpretation.

Together our paired researchers make a great team. And our clients get exceptional value - two researchers for the price of one! 

Sean is a member of the British Healthcare Business Intelligence Association, as are all the researchers he partners with. So you can be confident that we'll work within the very stringent BHBIA code of conduct (eg adverse event reporting, data protection etc).

The BHBIA is the sole industry association exclusively for market researchers working in healthcare. Furthermore, the BHBIA is the only market research association which requires all its members to follow the pharmaceutical industry code of practice, the ABPI code.

Thus Sean's membership of the BHBIA is your guarantee that we'll work ethically and effectively.

In addition, ARL is registered with the Information Commissioner's Office to hold personal data. The ICO is the UK's statutory authority set up to uphold information rights in the public interest. Since ARL is an ICO-registered holder of data, you can trust that any data we handle on your behalf will be handled sensitively and appropriately.
